Tagging is a very powerful marketing tool. You can tag or untag anyone who’s saved in your LinkedIn Contacts. Tags are categories to help organize and sort your contacts for searches and messaging. They can be added from the Contacts page or a person’s profile.

SSL recommends that you have no more than 50 contacts per tag, as that is the maximum number you can message at one time. If you reach 50, we recommend creating a second tag for that category, i.e. Mangers | Managers 1

Add or remove a tag on a profile:

1. Go to your connections profile and click Relationship in the top section of the profile under the member’s photo.
2. Click Tag.
3. Check the box next to an existing tag
4. To create a new category, click +Add new tag, type in the name and click Save.
5. To remove a tag, uncheck the box next to it.

To add or remove a tag from the Contacts page:

1. Hover over Network at the top of your homepage and click Contacts.
2. Hover over the contact in the list and click Tag below the contact’s information.
3. Check the box next to an existing tag or click +Add new tag to create a new one.
4. The tag will be visible to you on the person’s contact information and on their profile. You can click the tag in these areas to see all other profiles with the same tag.

Only you will see the tags you’ve created.

Note: You can create up to 200 new and unique tags or delete old ones.

Send messages to tagged contacts:

1. Hover over Network at the top of your homepage and click Contacts.
2. Click Filter by and click on Tag
3. Choose a category and all your tagged connections will be listed
4. To send a message, check select all
5. Click message
6. Be sure to uncheck Allow recipients to see each other’s names and email address to blind copy the message
